Vishal joined Koothu-P-Pattarai in preparation for his role as Raghunandan, a man whose wife is kidnapped by an old friend. His performance was deemed “acceptable” by one reviewer, but they added, “there was plenty to sharpen.” N. Vishal played the role of a jungle tour guide in the 2013 film Samar. According to Behindwoods, he “rocks in the action moments.” He made a brief appearance in Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru prior to his roles in action films like Pattathu Yaanai and Pandiya Naadu. Vishal made his first production effort with that last one. When Vishal’s character in the revenge drama Naan Sigappu Manithan (2014) developed narcolepsy, he made the decision to produce the film with Thiru. Vishal read about and studied real-life case studies of people with the illness to prepare for the leading role because there were no examples from movies he could study and learn from. After that, he played Poojai once more in Hari’s 2014 film, which had average performances.
