Deeksha Seth was discovered by a Femina Miss India contest scout at an NSS event during her first year of college in 2009. The scout convinced Deeksha Seth to become a model and compete in the beauty pageant. She participated in the competition and collaborated with a father-friend to create a portfolio. Deeksha was one of the top ten finalists and won the Fresh Face title despite her lack of modeling experience. She had been noticed by the casting director of Krish’s Telugu film Vedam while she was on a modeling assignment in Hyderabad. Seth was cast as Pooja, the wealthy girlfriend of Cable Raju, played by Allu Arjun, after 70 other candidates were turned down by the producers. She said that she “loved the script and decided to give it a shot.”

The anthology drama Vedam debuted to widespread critical acclaim and won numerous awards. She signed two more movies quickly, the Ravi Teja-starrer Mirapakaay coming out next, which was a huge commercial success. The action drama Wanted starring Gopichand, which marked her debut as the lead female character, was released two weeks after Mirapakaay and performed poorly at the box office.
