Before being selected for the international Indian cricket team, Wriddhiman Saha was a member of the under-19 and under-22 Indian cricket teams. He made his Ranji debut in 2007 against Assam, but he was unable to perform well. He then competed in three single-day matches for the Deodar Trophy. In the Ranji 2008 match against Hyderabad, Saha scored 111 runs without scoring. He was then selected for the 2008 Kolkata night riders team. He was selected for the international Indian test cricket team because of his outstanding performances in Indian A international matches. As a batsman, he made his test debut in February 2010.
